Rocky Mountain Log Homes Receives Stewardship Partner Award

Hamilton, MT (PRWEB) April 2, 2008 -- Rocky Mountain Log Homes' Certified Forester Pat Connell was on-hand at the 2008 Elk Camp in Reno, NV, February 21-24, to accept a Stewardship Partner Award from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Connell and Rocky Mountain Log Homes (http://www.rmlh.com) received the award for enhancing elk habitat with the Spring Mink Stewardship Program.

The Spring Mink Stewardship was a fuels reduction effort between the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (http://www.rmef.org) and Rocky Mountain Log Homes that included pre-commercial thinning of dead conifers and slashing of 700 acres and the installation of 11,000 feet of fire line in the Bitterroot National Forest in March of 2007. After a prescribed burn in the spring of 2007, the area should be restored to its historical condition of a ponderosa pine forest covered with lush forage, making for a perfect winter range for elk.

Since 1984 The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has protected and enhanced more than 5.2 million acres across the United States with over 492,000 acres opened to public access for hunting and other outdoor activities. Rocky Mountain Log Homes has supported The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation since 1985.

Located in Montana's Bitterroot Valley, Rocky Mountain Log Homes was founded in 1974 in Hamilton, Montana. In addition to their award-winning, precision-milled homes, they also offer a handcrafted series through their partnership with Pioneer Log Homes. Rocky Mountain Log Homes has been the longtime leader in creating meticulously crafted and inspired homes, lodges and other log buildings.
