Brian Moore Log Homes Receives FSC Certification

Vancouver, B.C. (PRWEB) September 13, 2009 -- Brian Moore Log Homes is pleased to report that in August 2009 it received its "Chain of Custody" certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) through Ecotrust Canada.

The highlights of this certification are as follows;

• Brian Moore Log Homes is the first Canadian handcrafted log home builder to receive this certification and one of only a few log home builders in all of North America

• Clients can now buy handcrafted log homes, post and beam homes, timber frame homes, and dovetail log homes made from certified FSC wood

Brian Moore, President stated, "We now combine the unique lifestyle of log and timber home living with the highest social and environmental standards for forest management. Clients can know when they build a beautiful Western Red Cedar log home or Douglas Fir log and timber home they are supporting forests that account for 3.5% of BC's certified land. Our decision to pursue certification was primarily in response to LEED for Homes in Canada (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). The number of LEED homes in Canada and the United States is growing every year. We want to support the log home buyer's ability to improve their LEED scores and achieve healthier living."

LEED for Homes started in 1994 and is a rating system operated by the U.S. Green Building Council. The goal of the program is to promote the design and construction of highperformance homes. LEED emphasize using wood products which are environmentally preferable. As of August 10, 2009, 2,706 units were LEED certified in Canada and the United States.

LEED Canada for Homes was launched in March of 2009.
